Expanding Our Horizon Through Soul Winning

"Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem other better than themselves. Do all things without murmurings and disputing; That ye maybe blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain." Philippians 2:3, 14-16

Welcome! This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.

This day marks the beginning of a very busy time of the year for our church. We need t work together in good spirit and team effort to make sure that the devil could not create unnecessary problems for I know that during busy times, Satan comes to cause tension and stress and discouragement. Let us pull together and get our work done, aiming to please the Lord always.

Let us welcome Bro. Meljun Laurena, son of and assistant to Pastor Ed Laurena of CBBC in San Pedro Laguna, Philippines. He is our preacher for today as well as the entire youth conference. Let us have our hearts ready to hear what the Lord has to say to us through him

YOUTH

"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth..." Ecclesiastes 12:1
"It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth..." Lamentations 3:27

As we recognize the youth of today, we need to remember that they are the leaders of tomorrow. It is with great delight that I acknowledge how God has blessed us with a bunch of young people who show love and devotion towards God. Yes, they are not perfect_but then again, who is? In spite of all their imperfections, I am convinced that God loves them and wants to use them to honour Him with their hearts and lives.

It is therefore my job _ mine as a pastor and everyone's as church members_ to nurture and train the next generation to go to greater heights and achievements that would please our master. After all, the youth belong to God _ let us point them back to Him.

To the youth _ I love you and I am praying for you.

LABOURERS TOGETHER WITH GOD

"For we are labourers together with God..." 1 Corinthians 3:9a

Welcome to church this morning. I praise and thank our Father for placing me in His ministry. None of us humans can ever lay claim to any worth or merit of our own which may be deemed as reason for God to use any of us _but we have received mercy and grace from His throne. With that in mind, I give Him praise for using such a sinner as I.

I also would like to express my deep gratitude to all the individuals that God has used over the years to enhanced my ministry. I know that without God and the people that have worked with me, I could not have done anything worthwhile.

We are presented with opportunities to serve God daily. It is up to us to cooperate with Him and accept the opportunities or run away from Him _which could be a simple as an unwillingness to do as the Holy Spirit is urging us to do.

Let us together seek and endeavor to be laborers with God.

FOLLOW ME

"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoeer will lose his life for my sake , the same shall save it." Luke 9: 23,24

If there is a phrase or a clause that sum up the meaning of true discipleship, it is "follow me." When Christ gave this invitation out to those who would eventually become his disciples and apostles, it implied more than just going through the motion of physically following: this was a call to a higher, nobler, greater and more powerful life_ a purpose, a vocation, a commitment. With a decision to follow, the disciples had to turn their backs on everything that they held dear until that time _ nets, boats, career, income, even family and friends. Therefore, as Paul said, "I count not my life dear unto myself" true discipleship requires a total surrender of one's life and a pursuit of God's holy purpose and plan.

When we decide to follow Christ, we'll find fulfillment, power, and total usefulness in the work of God. Then ans only then can we know the full blessings of being disciples of the living and one true God.

Let us e reminded that when we lose our very own lives for the sake of Christ and the gospel, He will recompense us with great blessings, such as we'll neven know outside of true discipleship _ we shall find true life.

Let us count the cost and be willing to pay the price and decide to "follow him", and then encourage others to follow us. Have a great Sunday.

HOW BIG IS GOD?

Who hath measured the waters in the hallow of His hand and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scles, and the hills in a balance? Isaiah 40:12

It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the mountains of problems that prevail in our lives. Often, when those feelings come, we lose sight of the fact that our God is way bigger than any thing that we can comprehend. We have a big God. I believe God allows problems to come to us so that He can have the opportunity to show how great He is. He gave David a giant so that He can give him the power to kill such giant; Joshua, the walls of Jericho; Moses, the Red Sea; Gideon, the Median army, and there are thousands more who have experienced the mighty work of God's almighty hands.

How big is God? The Bible said that He can hold all the water on this planet in the palms of His hand, and measure the entire galaxy within His span. Compared with that, all of our problems put together diminish into insignificance. We need to simply allow our minds to comprehend that He is big enough to rule this universe and yet He can dwell in our individual hearts. With that thought, we must cast all our cares upon Him for He promised to take care of us.

Let us all magnify the Lord together. Have a blessed Sunday!

PAUSE AND PRAY

"Pray without ceasing" I Thessalonians 5:17

This short verse appears amongst the seven short commands the Apostle Paul wrote in his first letter to the church at Thessalonica. Although brief, it carries great meaning.

"Without ceasing" literally means "uninterrupted". It carries the idea of continuing without an intermission and without omission. This is descriptive of our personal prayer time with the Lord but it should also reflect our attitude throughout the day. Is it possible to pray "without ceasing"? Surely I cannot pray without while driving or taking a test at school.

As we go through the day, we are often reminded of people who have needs_pause and pray for them. Missionaries will sometimes be brought into our mind_pause and pray for them. A friend may call or text and ask for prayer or help_pause and pray. As you can see, praying "without ceasing" throughout the day does not mean ceasing everything to pray. Rather, it is going through our day with an attitude of prayer; prayer for those who come to mind and communing with God in our minds.

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit..." Ephesians 6:18a

PHILIPPINES TRIP

So far we've attended two prayer meetings. First, at Mountain View Bible Baptist Church in Angeles City last Wednesday, then on Thursday at Lighthouse BBC in Tayug Pangasinan. Both services were a tremendous blessing.

Last night (Friday), we attended a home bible study led by pastor Jonathan Delgado of Lighthouse BBC in the home of the city engineer. He and his family are new believers. It was a blessing to see around 20 children & 15 adults in attendance.

Today we attended a men's fellowship at Tayug BBC under the leadership of Pastor Melchor Bunyog. The guest preacher was Dr. Franklin Goden of Fairview. The message was tremendous.

Pray for me as I am scheduled to preach at 3 services tomorrow. 1st, at our mission church in San Quintin in the morning, then at a new work that Pastor Larry Ramos is starting in Calasiao after lunch, then back in Lighthouse BBC in the evening.

Please pray that God's word be delivered in the power & wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Pray also for good health and strength for Lydia and myself for the rest of our trip.

God bless you all. I am praying for the services there.

In Christ's service,
Pastor Sherwin

THE FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING

"For after that in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." I Corinthians 1:21

The unsaved world doesn't think much of preaching. Lost men find it ridiculous that anybody should get up in front of them and proclaim to them that:

  • Man is a sinner and is guilty of death in the sight of God.
  • God sent His Son to take the guilt and punishment on the cross about 2000 years ago.
  • Anybody who believes this, by faith, would receive forgiveness and eternal life.

This is the unchanging truth. The world may think it is foolish but Spirit-filled preaching is the power of God unto salvation. Not only that, preaching the word of God changes lives. Let us be faithful to the ministry of preaching_both as preachers and listeners.

It was such a great blessing to be able to attend the meetings last week. Bro David Gibbs spoke the word in power and clarity, challenging everyone to "Get away from the edge" and to "Walk on water." The challenge was to ask God for the impossible.

God has no shortage of miracles. he just seeks people to believe and trust Him, ask Him for miracles and cooperate with Him.

FAMILY SUNDAY

"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it; except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." Psalm 127:1

Today, as we celebrate family Sunday, we are reminded that God is the foundation, builder and sustainer of our homes and families. May we all acknowledge that the only hope for our families to thrive amidst a crumbling world is God's love and grace. I hope and earnestly pray that we all honour Him and seek His face daily.

What we need are dads and moms whose priority is God's pleasure. We need children to have a hunger and a thirst for God. We need to really love the Lord so we can love each other with His love. Our relationship and fellowship with Him will determine our success in our earthly relationships_both at home and in our church family.

God bless you and have a great Sunday.

HIS WAYS

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" Isaiah 55:9

God's way is perfect. There are times when we do not understand the ways of God, we could not see how His plan works out but we must trust in His grace always. in recognition of this truth, we all need to place our lives in His hands and know that God has more grand and important purposes for us and we must simply commit our lives to His care, attending to His business_the seeking of the lost.

Let us always look to God for guidance and direction_He will never lead us astray.

God bless you.

MOTHER'S GENTLE LOVE

"But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children" I Thessalonians 2:7

The love of a mother is quite hard to comprehend. It is one of the most selfless and sacrificial kind of love on the human plane. The pains of pregnancy and childbirth, the worries of child-rearing, the sleepless nights, the many sacrifices that they have to make daily_they all make us thankful for our moms.

May we all honor our mothers today_and to give them best wishes and prayer that their lives would be reciprocated with honor and love from us.

God bless you.

LET GOD BE IN CHARGE

MAY THEME: Expanding Our Horizon Through the HOME

"Submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God" Ephesians 5:21

"Jesus Christ is the head of this house, the silent listener of every conversation, the unseen host at every meal."

The centerpiece of any loving, harmonious and peaceful home is Jesus Christ. If the Lord is not given the right place of ownership and leadership in the home, the devil is given way too much advantage to wreak havoc in the family life which results in a wider, far-reaching ramification of a crumbling society.

Not only that but also, God's people_especially the next generation will develop apathy toward God and His ministry when the flesh, the world and the devil are in charge in the home.

We need to pray for wisdom and a vision that our homes become God's fortress and bulwark, a place where He is Lord and His love overflow.

Let us endeavour to consecrate our homes to Him. Have a great Sunday.

THERE IS A CAUSE

“And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?” I Samuel 17:29

When David said the words we see above, he saw something that moved him. He was neither there as a soldier and a warrior, neither was he intending to become a hero. He happened to be at a place where he saw that his God was being defied and his people_the armies of Israel_ in apathy were not willing to take risks and fight God’s opposition on His behalf.

David was not supposed to be there, he was not supposed to get involved. He had his own life to live but he saw a cause. There is a cause!

May we realize from day to day that there is a cause_ it is a cause of our Saviour Jesus Christ. And may this realization moves us not to think of ourselves anymore, but with passion for Him, let us advance His cause.

It is my prayer that God would help us see past our personal circumstances and realize that there is a nation that needs our prayers, a nation where God is seeking to be recognized and honoured. This will only happen only if His people seek His face.

HE LIVES!

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." Matthew 28:6

One of the greatest statements_if not the greatest_ever made throughout history is the one made by the angel at the tomb of Christ on that resurrection Sunday: He is not here, for he is risen..." This signifies that Jesus indeed died and completed the payment for the penalty of sin for the entire human race, fr He could not have risen unless He died first.

But then He arose! This tells us that our faith is not in vain. It is safely anchored on the based of hope, on glorious and truth that we serve a risen Saviour. Christ has defeated death and the grave. This means that we can live in victory and not defeat. We can have joy, power and grace to accomplish our mission_to be a witness of Him and reach the lost.

Let us serve Him faithfully.

I WILL HEAL THEIR LAND

THE WHOLE BODY FITLY JOINED TOGETHER

“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. From whom the whole body body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measures of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love” Ephesians 4:15,16

Welcome to Ministry and involvement Sunday. Today, we shall seek to emphasize the Lord’s purpose for the Local New Testament Church and how each member is supposed to fit in. God, in His divine grace and mercy has saved us and placed us in His service_which is a privilege_ and we need to recognize the areas of ministry for which He has prepared us.

The greatest preparation for service, though, is “heart preparation”. We need to realize that serving God is all because of our love or Him and our service to others is an overflow of His love through us. In ministry, the greatest and most important requirement is a right heart and a right spirit.

Have a great Sunday!

Pastor SD Ramos

This Sunday is our Ministry Expo and Spiritual Gift Sunday.

It is our goal at Leumeah Baptist Church to be a body of believers that the Lord Jesus Christ can be pleased with. It is our aim and objective to be a church family that our Saviour can call good and faithful. We strive in obedience by utilizing the strengths and gifts bestowed upon us through ministries and services. It is our aim to be able to place the right people in the right places for service, whether it being helping in the crèche, cooking in the kitchen, or being on the preaching schedule. We believe that the Lord has placed burdens in our hearts, as well as specialties and purpose in our hearts so that we may serve in a ministry that we enjoy and benefit from.

Leumeah Baptist Church is a soul-orientated, Spirit-conscious, Lord-pleasing organization. It is not only our objective to get the job done, but to also do it in a fashion that is pleasing to the Saviour. The four “D’s” of our path to ministry are:

1. To become a D isciple;

2. D iscover your gifts;

3. D ecide on a ministry that fits; and

4. D eploy into service

As with any productive piece of machinery, the church must also have its standards and basic operating procedures. We believe that the Lord not only wants to use available vessels, but that He also chooses to use the ones that are willing to be used. There are four areas that an active member must be continually conscious of. These area are:

1. Our entertainment and recreation

2. Our daily lifestyle

3. Our personal appearance

4. Our personal walk with Christ

May the Lord lead you to the ministry that He would have you serve in.

CHANNEL OF BLESSINGS

“ For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.” Philemon 7

One of the main reasons for getting involved in the ministry _ besides obedience to God’s commands, which is a very important reason_ is the fact that there are many needs that God wants to meet through us. Ministry is the first and foremost our service to God, and Him using us to bless others.

We need to be willing to see the need of others, and of the Lord’s work, and decide to meet those needs_ through our time, treasure, talent and toil. The Lord’s ministry would be a great and joyous place to be involved in if we all commit our hearts to the Lord and seek only to be His channels of blessing.

A great church is not built on spare time and pocket change but love devotion and commitment.

Have a great Sunday!

Pastor SD Ramos

I WILL LIFT UP MINE EYES

" I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. Mt help cometh from the LORD which mde heven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2

When the path we travel becomes obscured by the haze of trials, difficulties and circumstances that tend to shake our very foundation, there is only one place where we can find solace, comfort and reassurance. God wants us to look upwards and realize that He is still God, and that He has everything under His control. All He asks is that we summon Him by coming before His throne of grace in time of dire need and cast all our cares upon Him.

So when our view becomes dim and we can't see much hope anywhere, God says, "Look unto the hills." In other words, look up! The world around us might crumble and shatter into pieces, the heavens might dissolve into nothing, the sun might darken and light shines no more, yet God's word remains true and will never pass away. We must simply put our trust in Him and His promises.

He never sleeps, whose charge it is to keep our souls safe and His promise is that if we cast our burdens on Him, He will carry us. Let us together lift up our eyes unto the hills for our Almighty Father has promised that help is available when we realize we need Him, and then call out for help.

May we all have a great Sunday!

PRAY WITHOUT CEASING

One of the greatest needs of the day is prayer. We are yet to see the greatest works and blessings that God can bestow upon us _ as individuals and as church family_ but we must be willing to labour in prayer.

One thing that had been on my heart is our declining attendance in our prayer meetings. Let us not grow weary in prayer. Let us do it more and ore fervently realizing the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

I call upon everyone, let us turn this building into a house of prayer. We need God and without Him, we shall amount to nothing.

Have a great Sunday!

Pastor SD Ramos

IN GOD WE TRUST

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is." Jeremiah 17:7

In these tough economic times, coupled by disastrous calamities, it is not hard for all to see that our life and existence on earth is full of uncertainty. When facing the prospect of dark and gloomy days ahead, we tend to naturally knuckle down and seek to prudently prepare for what seems inevitable.

However, our greatest source of help, security and hope is God. Instead of looking around us, seeking for answers and security,, we are supposed to look up and seek the face of our loving Father. We can never rely on our own security _ i.e. jobs, our homes, our abilities_ but we must trust in the Lord.

More and more, as we realize that this world's condition is getting worse and worse, we must get down on our knees in humble worship and pleading with our Lord, seeking His grace, mercy and love _for He promised that, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty..."

God bless you and have a great Sunday!

REJOICE AND WEEP

"Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep." Romans 12:15

I bid you all good day. Once more, as we come together to honour God, we seek to praise Him for all His goodness and grace. We rejoice in the thought that He loves us, cares about us and will never leave us nor forsake us.

While we rejoice, our nation mourns. Today is declared as national mourning day. Our country mourns for the loss of lives, homes and livelihood. Let us mourn together _ but more so for the souls of those who died not knowing that there is a Saviour who could have saved them. Let us also, with all our hearts, pray that those who remain would hear the blessed truth of Christ's love and sacrifice for them. Let us pray that the Lord of the harvest would sent forth His labourers and bring those souls to His fold.

BOW THE KNEE

bunyip state forest, near Tonimbuk. Andrew Brownbi

Welcome one and all. In anticipation of God's blessings, I encourage all to look to Him and Give Him all the attention and worship that is due. When certain events which we deem are undesirable _ such as fire and death_ we need to realize that God, in His sovereignty, has a divine purpose for it. God does not move without a purpose or a plan. In every way, man must learn to recognize God's authority and ever bow the knee in submission to the divine will of God.

When God allows "bad" things to happen, He is trying to get our attention. We must listen and obey His voice.

Have a great Sunday.

KNOWING, BEING AND DOING

"That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferngs, being made conformable unto his death." Philippians 3:10

There are three things that summarizes all of the activities of a Christian life_knowing, being and doing. One of the main reasons we get together is for instruction in the Word of God. That is why we preach and teach the Bible. The purpose though, is not just knowledge but transformation of life. We must know Him so we can be like Him. The most important aspect of Christianity is "being". Christ's instructions mainly focus on our being. He often said to the effect that we are to be this or that. When we become what we are meant to be, then we can do all that we are meant to do for Christ_or better still, God will work through us if we are completely yielded to Him. Let us know that we may become so that we can do.

God bless you and have a great Sunday!

LEARN OF ME

EXPANDING OUR HORIZON

Welcome to church! Our emphasis this month is Sunday School. My desire is that we seek to learn through, support and promote our Sunday school ministry. Jesus said "learn of me". He is the greatest teacher of all ages. As He gave us His Word, He desires for us to learn of Him, His nature, His heart and His love. These are the things we shall be endeavouring to teach in Sunday school so come and join us. Let us together join hands to honour God today in our worship. God bless you all.
